Our 100% Peruvian baby alpaca scarves are designed to make you love being warm, all winter long! I knit these scarves on a Passap manual knitting machine in double-knit to make them extra thick and durable.
Alpacas are similar to llamas, and their fiber is hypoallergenic and more durable than wool. The yarn used to make this scarf was prepared using a process that removes the smaller, itchy hairs, making it remarkably soft and resistant to pilling. Our alpaca is grown in Peru, milled in the UK, and hand-dyed in-house in Seattle, WA.
Wool creates a cocoon of warmth around the wearer that wicks moisture away from the body, making it a great choice for mild to cold winters. Our alpaca scarves are thinner and lighter than our merino wool scarves, making them great for layering under a coat. Both the alpaca and merino scarves are equally warm, but if you prefer something that feels thicker and more substantial, we recommend one of our merino wool scarves.
If you prefer to knit or crochet your own beanie, you can knit this with three skeins of our 100% alpaca yarn in fingering weight. Here's our free pattern!
