Love Being Warm
Hate The Cold offers ethically-sourced, sustainable luxury yarn and knitwear, hand-dyed in Seattle, Washington.
Ethics & Sustainability
We look for yarn bases made with materials that have been ethically and sustainably produced, obtain samples from as many sources as possible, and select a variety of yarn bases good for different seasons and garments.
- Ethically produced means no animals are harmed, and workers receive fair wages and safe working conditions.
- Sustainably produced means minimizing the product's environmental impact.
In the context of fashion, we see two paths for clothing companies working toward sustainability:
- Create high-quality, durable pieces that people want to rewear and pass along, with the goal of raising the average number of times a person wears a garment before forgetting about it or throwing it out.
- Creating clothing with all-natural fibers and dyes so the garment can be composted when a person's done using it.
We focus on the first path. All of our knits are crafted in Seattle on knitting machines using the same yarn we sell.
