Care Instructions for Yarn and Knitwear
Share
Unless otherwise specified, yarn and knitwear from Hate The Cold should be hand-washed and dried flat.
Washing
Fill a basin with enough cool water to cover your garment(s) and add wool wash or a pH-neutral soap that doesn't contain enzymes, like original (blue, not Ultra) Dawn.
Place your garments in the basin. Allow five to ten minutes for them to soak up the water. Once the garments are submerged, gently squeeze them to get the soap working. Avoid heat and rough agitation, which can cause shrinkage and felting.
Allow the garments to soak for thirty minutes, then rinse them and squeeze out the water, repeating as necessary to prepare them for drying.
Drying
Lay garments flat on a towel over a flat surface to minimize creasing. Avoid hanging garments, as hanging wet knitwear can cause it to stretch.
To speed the drying process, roll the garments in a towel and gently squeeze the towel to let some of the water soak into the towel. Then, unroll the towel and dry the garments on a dry towel.
Garments may take longer to dry in humid weather. Scarves and lightweight beanies may take 24-36 hours to dry, while mid and heavyweight garments may take 48-72 hours.
